Abstract
The Arabic language scholar, Allama Usman ibn Jinni (D. 392 AH), is a distinguished expert in Arabic linguistics, particularly in the science of morphology. Throughout his life, he devoted himself to researching the Arabic language. In this article, we explore his personality through the lens of the science of morphology, seeking to understand his position and status in this field.
Linguistic experts from different eras unanimously agree that his comprehensive and enduring book on morphology has successfully reached us through his efforts. He authored a commentary on Abu Usman al-Mazini's book "Al-Tasreef" under the name of Al-Munassif, and this book has reached us in its original form. Otherwise, before him, morphology used to be included in a single book along with the science of syntax.
This article comprises an introduction, a prelude, three sections, and a conclusion. In the prelude, we study his scholarly and cultural life. The first section delves into Ibn Jinni's school of morphology, the second section examines his research methodology in morphology, and the third section explores his and other linguists' opinions in the science of morphology. In the conclusion, we highlight the significant findings of this article
