Abstract

Exploring the Lives of Muslims During the Migration to Habsha: A Comprehensive Research Study investigates the significant early migration of Muslims from Mecca to Abyssinia (modern-day Ethiopia) during the seventh century, a pivotal event often referred to as the First Hijra. This migration was largely driven by severe persecution from the Quraysh tribe, which sought to suppress the growing Muslim community. Seeking refuge under the Christian King, known as the Negus, the migrants not only found safety but also established vital interfaith dialogues that shaped the early Islamic presence outside the Arabian Peninsula.

The study highlights the socio-political and religious dynamics that accompanied this migration, illustrating how it served as a foundational moment for Muslim identity in a new cultural landscape. Early Muslims in Habsha faced numerous challenges, from navigating perilous routes across the Red Sea to integrating into a society characterized by distinct cultural and religious practices. Their experiences fostered the establishment of Muslim communities that contributed to both the spread of Islam and the rich tapestry of inter-religious interactions prevalent in the region
